Join us for Child Gun Safety Education Month – April, 2026
According to 2024-2025 data, there are roughly over 500 million civilian-owned guns in the U.S. This figure includes both legal and illegal firearms, and represents approximately 1.5 firearms for every person in the country. Source: Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Realistically, guns in the United States are not going anywhere. Guns are part of our nation’s history. Guns are deeply entrenched in our culture and gun ownership is protected by the United States Constitution.
With that in mind, rather than fighting the existence and ownership of guns in America, a more realistic approach is to educate our youth and adults alike in gun safety practices.

The message is simple.
With gun ownership comes responsibility. Owning a gun is one of, if not the greatest, responsibilities a person will ever have.
Not only does one have the responsibility of knowing how to safely handle it and use it, an individual has the responsibility of securing that firearm(s) to prevent access and use by unauthorized persons. Those persons not only include children, but also include mentally ill or emotionally unstable persons, untrained persons and criminals.
Part of responsible firearm ownership includes protection from theft.
