This the only class that you will need to get your Florida Concealed Carry License and meets the State of Florida’s training requirements for applying for a concealed carry weapons license, recognized in 37 states .

- Self-Defense strategies
- What guns to purchase for concealed carry and self-defense
- Applying for and maintaining your Florida concealed carry license

This is our basic concealed carry class. The class includes all the subject material and training required for applying for a State of Florida concealed carry license and includes live-fire, firearm proficiency evaluation. This is not a firearms training course.
For firearms training, we recommend our Basic Handgun Training – Florida Concealed Carry License Qualification Class – CCW 201 (5 hours), our NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (12 hours) or our advanced concealed carry class the NRA Defensive Pistol Course (10 hours). These courses exceed the State of Florida’s training requirement for applying for a Florida concealed carry license.

CCW 201 – Basic Handgun Training – Florida concealed carry weapons license qualification course
- The course is 5 hours in duration
- Cost: $75
- Includes classroom and live-fire range training. ( A minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition will be fired during the one-on-one range training.)
- Exceeds Florida’s concealed carry weapons application training requirement.
- An official certificate of training will be issued upon successful completion good for the State of Florida’s concealed carry license application process.
* The participant is encourage to provide his or her own handgun. If he or she does not own one, one can be provided, complete with ammunition, for a small additional charge. The participant should NOT purchase a firearm to take the course. Purchasing information and considerations will be presented and discussed in the course.
Topics in the course include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting, and pistol inspection and maintenance.
Defensive Pistol
This is the NRA’s new nationally recognized true concealed carry training course. This is advanced level training and not for the faint of heart. The live-fire range training has been said to be intense. For that reason, the class is conducted in two days.
- The course is 10 hours in duration (Usually conducted in two 5 hour days.)
- Includes classroom and live-fire range training. (Approximately 200 rounds of ammunition will be fired during the range training.)
- Prerequisite: Either the NRA’s Basic Pistol Course or In-Gauge of Polk County’s CCW 101 or CCW 201 courses.
- The student must provide his/her own:
- defensive caliber handgun (.38 special, .357, 9mm .380, .40, .45)
- appropriated strongside holster with retention
- ammunition (minimum 200 rounds)
- concealment garment
- hearing and eye protection
- An official, nationally recognized National Rifle Association certificate of training will be issued upon successful completion.
The NRA Defensive Pistol Course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence. As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection, clearing common stoppages, use of pocket pistols, and more. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and the NRA Defensive Pistol certificate. This course is only conducted by NRA Certified Advanced Pistol Instructors.
Basics of Pistol Shooting (ILT)
– Now available . . . .
- The course is 8 hours in duration
- Training includes both classroom and live-fire range training.
- Training is for one type of action pistol:
- Revolver
- Semi-automatic
- Live-fire range training includes the firing of a minimum of 50 rounds of ammunition. (Two pistol – exceeds 100 rounds of ammunition.)
- Each participant will receive an official NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting student packet, including the Basics of Pistol Shooting hardcover manual.
- An official nationally recognized National Rifle Association certificate of training will be issued upon successful completion.

The participant should NOT purchase a firearm to take the course. Purchasing information and considerations will be presented and discussed in the course.

The instructor will validate comprehension and application of gun safety rules; range protocol; proper handling; loading and unloading procedures; application of pistol shooting fundamentals; stable shooting positions; live fire; and a final shooting qualification. Students will receive the Basics of Pistol Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basics of Pistol Shooting Course completion certificate.
NRA FIRST Steps Shotgun – Defensive Shotgun
- The course is 4 hours in duration
- Includes classroom and live-fire range training. ( A minimum of 25 rounds of ammunition will be fired during the live-fire range training.)
- The participant may provide his/her own firearm.
- If the participant does not own a shotgun, one will be provided without charge.
- Training fulfills Florida’s concealed carry weapons application training requirement.
- An official, nationally recognized National Rifle Association certificate of training will be issued upon successful completion.
NRA FIRST Steps Shotgun course is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific shotgun model. This course is at least three hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot a specific model shotgun. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular shotgun model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the shotgun; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, FIRST Steps Course completion certificate.
NRA FIRST Steps Rifle – AR Rifle
- The course is 4 hours in duration
- Includes classroom and live-fire range training. ( Approximately 40 rounds of ammunition will be fired during the live-fire range training.)
- The participant must provide his/her own AR style rifle. (AR-15 / AR-10 / AR-15 .22LR)
- If the participant does not own a shotgun, one will be provided without charge.
- Training fulfills Florida’s concealed carry weapons application training requirement.
- An official nationally recognized National Rifle Association certificate of training will be issued upon successful completion.
NRA FIRST Steps Rifle is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific rifle action type.
